It's been a crazy time for the world, what with the Paris bombings and threats and for us on our scale the holiday rush. We feel the need to get away, be off the grid, go for where there is no free wifi but wifi-free. So we switched off and take a hemp bag and go mushroom hunting in the backyard of the Rawganique Homstead, knowing that halfway through our mushroom picking we will encounter peace, calm, and serenity at the waterfall and cascades.
We love the fall. Yes, there are as many rainy days as sunny days, if not more. But the air is fresh and cool and nature leaps back to life after months of our Mediterranean-like drought. It's good to replenish the water table and aquifers. And the greatest of all is the vigorous waterfall and cascades at the homestead. The ponds are overflowing, the creek is rushing, and the waterfall is a sanctuary that blocks out the rest of the world momentarily. We can sit by the waterfall and cascades for hours, just listening to the water music that drowns out worldly noise.
This is a sacred place for us. It's a regenerative grounding place, where water falls 90 feet from a mother rock, backed by a verdant wallpaper of rare and mysterious maindenhair fern that clings to the mother rock and thrives on this moist and cool microclimate year-round. It's a blessing to have this retreat. Sometimes, we just need to get away, to renew, regenerate, and put things in perspective.
