Mushroom Dyes Walnut Dyes

Organic Natural Local Dyes from Walnuts and Mushrooms: Mordants-free

September 23, 2015

We're starting work on local organic walnut and mushroom dyes which do not need mordants to fix the color, which is super awesome!!! For thousands of years, different kinds of walnuts and mushrooms have been used to create completely natural vibrant colors in many shades.

The wild-harvested walnuts and mushrooms are from Rawganique's own Denman Island's pristine organic forests and fields. The organic mushroom colors can be tweaked with a little help from vinegar, so the pinks, yellows, mauves, purples, and browns you see above are all from the same type of mushroom.

The walnut dyes are very colorfast and yield a uniform light to medium earth brown color.

We harvest and prepare the walnut and mushroom dyes by hand, which is a labor-intensive process and just the way we like to do things. :)
